This is an amazing read! I've just subscribed. Looking forward to more such analysis.

I have the experience of using both Apple Music & Amazon Music HD.

From my experience, I did not really find Amazon Music HD's sound quality to be so much more superior than what's available on Apple Music. I also disliked the interface of Amazon Music. And I had not expected anything better from Amazon.

This competition will be tight for #2. And as you've mentioned, Apple needs to respond and soon. Apple's student plan was helpful and that's something I've been using during my student life. Costs just 5$/month. I hope Apple also comes up with an Annual plan.

Hey, thank you! Totally agree with you re Amazon's UI - that's an area Spotify/Apple are way ahead.

I do think Apple has an annual plan! They just don't advertise it - pretty sure it's $99 per year. Amazon is still cheaper, but very cool that Apple at least offers it.

It’s interesting how Apple invented Podcasts and Spotify is using them to take Apple Music customers by getting exclusive content. Though Apple invented them to be free and open and Spotify has sort of been abusing the system.

By the way the custom graphics look sharp! 👍 Nice read

Thanks Stu! So true re Apple and Spotify. Think Apple’s business model is a big hurdle for them here, Spotify’s ad supported freemium play helped them a ton with acquisition. Apple just offers a free trial since they don’t get down with ads. Same with podcasts, they would never build an ad product like Spotify’s doing. The open v closed debate for podcasts is super heated, I love it haha. Appreciate the love man 🙏🏼

Hey Rob, hope all is well man. Great article. I have the Spotify family plan which is interesting that I can add people who technically aren't family members so its really me my wife and 3 friends on the plan which is nice. Capital One offers a deal through Spotify to have the family plan for 7.99/month if you subscribe through your capital one card which is another great incentive I was able to find and take advantage of to stay on my preferred streaming service at a lower cost.

Also a note on podcasts, I'm big into podcasts, I would prefer to listen to them on Spotify but I haven't been able to figure out how to get the push notifications on my phone when new episodes come out so I listen through Apple. Apple sends me those push notifications to the shows I'm subscribed to and to me, those push notifications make all the difference as they actually remind/push me to listen to new episodes and consume far more content than without those notifications. I wish Spotify did that, maybe they do and I just haven't figured it out yet tho haha.

Good stuff man

Joe, so good to hear from you man! Thanks for the feedback, and for subscribing! That Capital One plan is wild - I had never heard of that promo for Spotify before - what a bargain.

Such an interesting point about podcasts. I switched over to Spotify about a year ago, and the only show I still listened to on Apple was Joe Rogan, but since he's moving exclusively to Spotify, I won't have a reason to go back to Apple. The notifications point is interesting though! I had to turn mine off a while back cuz I was listening to too many and it was overwhelming haha.

Hope all is well man!
